Kalevala Koru is one of the most prestigious Finnish jewelry brands. Over the decades, Kalevala Jewelry has become an internationally known manufacturer of bronze, silver and gold jewelry. In Kalevala Koru's jewelry, stories come to life.
Roots in Finnishness
Kalevala Koru is a major Finnish jewelry manufacturer that designs and manufactures high-quality gold, silver, and bronze jewelry. The brand's mission is to create joy and pleasure in people's everyday life and celebrations by implementing sustainable values.
Kalevala Jewelry's factory, sales and administration operate in their own property on Helsinki's Pitäjänmäki. All jewelry is made in Finland, and as far as raw materials are concerned, materials of Finnish origin are preferred.
The story began with a statue
Kalevala Koru started in the 1930s, when the writer Elsa Heporanta got the idea of erecting a monument to a Finnish woman. Enthusiastic about the idea, a group of women decided to raise money for the statue by making and selling historical jewelry.
The first series of jewelry was presented at the tea party of the president's spouse, Kaisa Kallio, in 1937. Kalevala Koru, which initially drew inspiration from the collections of the National Museum, immediately became extremely popular. However, the outbreak of the Winter War meant that the money collected for the statue was used to help those in need. At the same time, charity became an important value for the company.
The legacy of the women who promoted the statue idea lives on in the brand's operations: the Kalevalainen Naisten Liitto, founded by women, still owns the jewelry company. The story of Kalevala Koru is indeed a tribute to a Finnish woman. The brand brought out this point of view, for example, in a campaign planned in honor of its 80th anniversary, which would celebrate the untamed beauty of women.
A combination of modern times and traditions
Over the decades, Kalevala Jewelry's starting point has remained the same: modern and historical jewelry collection coexist. That's why the selection includes suitable jewelry for all ages, regardless of style and gender.
There is a story behind every piece of jewelry. The jewelry comes with a story booklet, which tells the story of the jewelry in Finnish and English. Kalevala Jewelry is therefore also suitable as a gift for your foreign friends and is also a popular business gift.
Popular Kalevala Koru series
In the 2000s, Kalevala Koru has made collaborative collections with public figures. For example, the Elämän roihu jewelry series was created in cooperation with the Duudsonit group. The series encourages you to believe in yourself and live your dreams to the fullest. It includes several different pendants, a multipurpose bracelet, a tie pin and cufflinks, and earrings.
One of Kalevala Jewelry's most loved jewelry series is Vanamo, which was designed by Kirsti Doukas and was inspired by the verses of Eino Leino's poem Nocturne. Jewelry from the versatile Vanamo series is available with white and pink freshwater pearls.
New for spring 2018 is the silver Valoisa jewelry series, which represents modern Kalevala Jewelry. The ring pattern of Valoisa jewelry reflects the eternity of friendship, which brings light and warmth to life. Valoisa reminds you of the importance of friendship and encourages you to also be your own best friend. The series was designed by Tiina Arkko.
A more traditional style is represented by the Lumikukka jewelry series, which is available in silver, gold and bronze. Lumikukka is one of Kalevala Jewelry's most popular jewelry series. Jewelry that glorifies the diversity of nature has been designed by Marja Suna.
