When you bring scrap gold to our store, the gold jewelry and gold objects are sent to our workshop for evaluation, after which you will receive an offer based on the weight of the gold. The refund for the gold you sold can be paid both in cash and as a gift card or product. If you choose a gift card or a product, the refund amount is 2 euros more for each gram. Recycling old gold, or scrap gold, purchased from customers also requires processing, such as cleaning and melting the gold. However, the environmental impacts and energy requirements of recycling scrap gold are minimal compared to the mining and refining process of new gold. Therefore, it is important that the valuable material is brought back into circulation and used. The gold you sell to us ends up as 100% material for new Silván jewelry.

We have been buying scrap gold from our customers for decades and have developed our operations so that today all the gold we use is 100% recycled. For us, buying gold is purely a way to acquire material for our own jewelry production, which takes place in our own workshop in Hyvinkää and is largely handmade. When you sell your gold to us, you can be sure that the gold you sell will reliably and 100% end up as raw material for the production of new jewelry.

How to Sell Gold to Us

Selling gold to us is easy and transparent. You will always receive a refund for your gold items and gold jewelry, based on the current market value of the gold. We always strive to offer the best price on the market for your gold and responsibly recycle it into material for new jewelry. When you sell gold to us, the process is as follows:

• Bring your gold items and gold jewelry to the nearest Laatukoru store
• From the store, the gold is sent to our workshop for appraisal
• You will receive an offer for your gold
• When you accept the offer, we will pay you the refund, according to your choice, either directly to your bank account or as a gift card or product

You have only sold your gold to us when you accept our offer. When old gold jewelry or items are sent to the workshop for appraisal, the goldsmith removes the stones and other parts embedded in them and ensures the gold content and authenticity. The exact weight is only weighed for gold. Removing stones and other parts may damage the jewelry/item, and Laatukoro Oy is not responsible for any damage that may occur. Please also note that the refund is always calculated based on the date of the gold handover, i.e. based on the market value of the day you handed over your gold jewelry and gold items to us for evaluation.

After receiving the offer, you can choose whether to have the refund amount directly transferred to your bank account or whether you prefer to receive the refund as a gift card or product. If you choose the latter, we will pay you 2 euros more for each gram. When purchasing new jewelry, it is therefore worth checking the condition of broken or unused jewelry and bringing it to us for evaluation. Or perhaps you want a new shape for your heirloom jewelry. You can use the gold and stones in it as material for a new piece of jewelry.

Gold is Purified and Used to Make New Jewelry

Our interest in buying gold and thus using recycled gold is not new. We have been buying our customers’ old gold jewelry and gold objects for decades. Since the beginning of our operations, we have succeeded in replacing some of the used gold with recycled gold, and since 2009, the gold used in our jewelry production has been 100% recycled. This has been possible thanks to our extensive store network and active customers. In other words, we buy our used gold directly from our customers and recycle it back into new Silvan diamond and gold jewelry for our customers.

The 100% recycled gold we use is always pure and first-class. Even when recycled, the gold remains as good as freshly mined gold. The gold we buy from our customers is melted and purified using mechanical, chemical and electrolytic processes, the alloying elements are separated and the fine gold is recovered for the production of new jewellery. The new Silván jewellery made from recycled gold is made in our jewellery workshop in Hyvinkää by around ten goldsmiths and jewellery professionals, respecting centuries-old goldsmithing traditions.
