Moon Goddess - Iconic Kalevala Jewelry Series
The Moon Goddess jewelry series began in the 1940s. It has been in Kalevala's selection since the company's first years and is the most famous of the jewelry in the Kalevala Originals collection. The jewelry designed by Germund Paaer is inspired by the most beautiful details and decorative motifs of jewelry from the Viking era. The jewelry got its name from the Kalevala. In the decorative motifs of Moon Goddess jewelry, the spirals symbolize the cycle of life, and its small sounds drive away evil spirits with their sound.
The Moon Goddess jewelry series consists of earrings and necklaces available in two sizes. All models are also available in silver and bronze.
Moon Goddess Jewelry
The Kalevala Moon Goddess necklace is available in two different sizes. In the larger necklace, the height of the pendant is 10.5 cm and the length of the chain is 70 cm. The chain also does not have a lock or adjustment, but is strung around the neck over the head. The height of the small Moon Goddess pendant is 4.8 cm and the length of the chain can be adjusted to 55 cm or 60 cm. It has an Anchor chain and spring ring lock. Both sizes are available in bronze and silver.
Moon Goddess Earrings
Just like the Moon Goddess necklaces, the earrings are also available in two sizes and both sizes in silver and bronze. The slightly more restrained small Moon Goddess earrings are 2.6 cm high and the bigger big earrings 4.8 cm. Both earrings have a hook fastening. Beautifully hanging earrings work both in everyday life and at parties.
Moon Goddess as part of the Kalevala Originals collection
The Kaleval Originals collection gives voice to past generations and brings the stories and myths of the past into today. The rich ornamentation of our ancestors' jewelry also serves as a source of inspiration for today's jewelry designers.
The Moon Goddess jewelry series brings jewelry treasures from the 800s to the 1050s, the Viking Age, within the reach of today's people. The Vikings made trade trips to the east and also visited the coast of Finland. The Vikings exchanged weapons and jewelry for furs, among other things. This is how jewelry from different parts of the world ended up in Finland, and inspired by them, Finnish jewelers made new jewelry in an original and Finnish style. These, in turn, have inspired later jewelers to design jewelry that is clearly Viking-era in spirit. Also in the production of Germund Paaer, the designer of the Moon Goddess jewelry series, you can see many Viking-themed jewelry models.
Traditional Kalevala Moon Goddess Jewelry as a Gift
The jewelry from the Moon Goddess collection can be thought of as a gift for someone who appreciates traditions and decorative jewelry style. This jewelry gift is associated not only with the meaning of symbolizing the continuity of life, but also with the idea of the jewelry's protective power. The small hanging rings of the jewelry make a beautiful sound, which at the same time drives away bad thoughts and evil spirits. Charms can also be seen as bright rays of the sun that illuminate the world and the mind.
